We spent September 2019 “backpacking” in Europe. We traveled light - one 40 liter pack each, on our own with a flexible itinerary, and (after arriving from the States) we traveled exclusively by rail and by foot. We stayed in lodgings that ranged from the 14th century Dartington Hall in Devon, England; to a retired lighthouse tender turned hotel, the SS Fingal, in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Our journey took us from Paris to London, Brighton, Totnes, Oxford, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Brussels, Rotterdam, and back to Paris. A thoroughly delightful adventure that we’ll remember dearly forever.
